Grab a Gardener
Grabagardener.com is an on-demand marketplace business that connects local customers to local highly vetted gardeners. The platform provides all exterior services from garden maintenance to garden design, to landscaping to drive clearing and tree felling.
After identifying a gap in the market for an on-demand service. We launched Grab a Gardener with the intention of making gardening services readibly avaialble to the masses.
We built the technology from the ground up and launched a brand new product in an offline and old fashioned market. Breaking down many barriers along the way, Grab a Gardener puts the power back in the customer's hands by letting them decide when and where the gardener should come. It allows secure online payments, with fixed hourly rates and best of all gives a constant point of contact to the customer so they always know when the gardener is arriving and what work they carried out.
Grab a Gardener's technology fully automates the entire logistics process for the gardener from marketing to taking payment, to scheduling jobs, to planning efficient routes all managed in one single app.
Since launching the business we've grown to over 6,000 customers with over 500 registered gardeners and provided 50,000 hours of garden maintenance services operating right accross the south of the UK.

- Managing investors and stakeholders
I was managing two different engineering teams working as Head of Product looking at how to improve the technology, what was available in the market though competitor analysis, adding new features based on customer / gardener feedback. roadmapping, forecasting, financial modelling and backlog monitoring. Using analytical data and user behaviour data to drive optimisation of conversions and feedback to improve other areas of the business like marketing / sales.
A large part of my time was spent really deep diving into the numbers, to try and optimise customer conversions in order to improve MRR / ARR (Recuring Revenues) and retention. Understanding customer behaviours, improving UX and looking to increase LTV / Spend / upselling and margins through adding new products and services.

Co-Founder – Business Analyst
April, 2017Early in the year the focus was to develop the tech ready for the start of season. We did a lot of user research using analytics software. A lot of funnel conversion optimisation. Understanding customer drop-off and using services like Hotjar for screen recording to identify bottlenecks, bugs and sticking points. I project managed a team of developers and guided them through the exact design, UX & functionality I wanted. The changes implemented to the website more than doubled basket size, increased conversinons and helped to reduce customer churn / drop-off.

August, 2015One of the biggest challenges was finding a complete technology stack that would fulfil all of the business MVP requirements, and would integrate into our site. Given my background in software I was able to come up with the exact technology we could use, design the basic roadmap and build the MVP to launch the business.

Co-Founder & Director
June, 2015After spending months trying to find a gardener online (and eventually failing) my co-founder and I discovered a gap in the market where no online platforms gave the option to simply book a gardener for a fixed number of hours, pay online and get instant confirmation that a gardener would arrive. After spending some time doing a detailed market / competitor research and conceptualising the technology we set out to launch a product.
